Blepharoplasty is cosmetic eyelid surgery, which may correct drooping upper eyelids and puffy bags below the eyes. These conditions may make you look tired or older. When severe, these conditions may also cause problems such as impaired field of vision or difficulty wearing glasses.

A laser is a machine that emits a beam of high intensity light. There are many different kinds of lasers with different wavelength, colour and intensity. Eye specialists have been using lasers for many years. They are used to treat the retina and often following cataract surgery to improve vision (i.e. YAG Laser). More recently lasers have been used on the cornea (the front of the eye) to improve the vision of those wearing spectacles.
Over the years laser technology has improved enabling its use in many different areas of the body. Dr Martin uses a CO2 Laser for facial resurfacing which is effective for removing facial wrinkles and acne scarring.

The effects of aging are inevitable and often the brow and forehead area, along with the eyes, show the first signs. The skin begins to lose its elasticity. Sun, muscle activity and gravity all affect the face, resulting in frown lines, wrinkling across the forehead and an increasing heaviness of the eyebrows. If this occurs you may opt for a procedure known as a forehead or brow lift.

Anti-wrinkle injections contain a muscle relaxant which is used to treat overactive muscles causing spasm in the eyelids (blepharospasm), or face (such as in nerve disorders). Although originally used for these purposes, these injectios are now used cosmetically and is one of the most popular, pain-free and least invasive ways of minimising crows feet and frown lines which are found on the forehead, between the eyebrows and around the eyes.
